A river called Umngot flows through a place called Dawki, which is about 100 km from Shillong (capital and hill station of Meghalaya, also known as "The Abode of Clouds") in East India.

The Umngot river is the venue of the annual boat race held during March - April at Umsyiem and is the natural boundary between Ri Pnar or Jaintia Hills with Hima Khyrim of Khasi hills over which is a single span suspension bridge, Dawki Bridgewas constructed by British in 1932.
