Naturally happening phenomenon that puzzles even scientists.

1)Earthquake Light

Earthquake Light is a very rare phenomena that occurs just before an earthquake takes place. It is an unusual luminous air phenomena. The research on the causes behind this process is going on. A number of theories has been proposed to explain this phenomena like: piezoelectricity, ionization of atmosphere or magnetic field of earth.None of these theories have yet provided a conclusive evidence to this phenomena.

2)Sailing Stones of Racetrack Palaya

The sailing stones are a geological phenomenon found in the Racetrack. Slabs of dolomite and syenite ranging from a few hundred grams to hundreds of kilograms slide across the Playa surface, without human or animal intervention. The tracks have been observed and studied since the early 1900s, yet no one has seen the stones in motion. Racetrack stones only move once every two or three years and most tracks last for three or four years. Stones with rough bottoms leave straight striated tracks while those with smooth bottoms wander.A number of theories keep on emerging to expalin this phenomena but it continues to puzzle scientists.

3)Naga Fireballs or Mekong Lights

The Naga fireballs also known as the Mekong lights, and “bung fai paya nak” by the locals, is a phenomenon often seen in Thailand’s Mekong river —in which glowing balls are seen to be  naturally rising from the water high into the air.

The balls are reddish and have diverse sizes from smaller sparkles up to the size of basketballs. They quickly rise up to a couple of hundred metres before disappearing. The number of fireballs reported varies between tens and thousands per night

4)Electric Blue Seas

It may look like an alien life-form has washed up on a beach, but this striking neon blue effect is a completely natural phenomenon.
The incredible image above was taken by photographer Doug Perrine during a visit to Vaadhoo, one of the Raa Atoll islands in the Maldives.
It captures a natural chemical reaction called bio luminescence, which occurs when a micro-organism in the water is disturbed by oxygen

Although a rare sight on a shoreline, the phenomenon is more commonly seen at sea in the wake of ships that stir up the oxygen in the sea, which causes the bio luminescent bacteria to glow.

What would the planet be like if Humans never existed? by James Owen

Researchers in Denmark did research to create a map to show how a world without humans would have significantly more large mammals distributed around the world. What the world would look like without humans

The Oceans would definitely also be more diverse as it is estimated that a staggering 0.97-2.7 trillion wild fish are caught globally each year. This equates to a lot more fish in the ocean !

On top of that, the earth would be a ton greener as it is estimated that about 3 billion to 6 billion trees are cut down each year meaning that as tree density in primary forests varies from 50,000-100,000 trees per square km, which equates to about 80000 square kilometers of extra green on the earth each year! The earth is about 510.1 million km² which is a lot more than 80000 but as 71 percents of the earths surface is water, this means that an extra 0.0220890132% of the Earth’s land is getting greener by trees alone (imagine how much land would be covered in grass) !

Foods that Look like the Body Part they are Good for

It is amazing how Nature has given us hints about food that is beneficial for us in terms of its resemblance to our organs. Following are some examples:

Walnut- brain

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are similar to those of the neo-cortex. Known as the ultimate “brain food”, Walnuts contain vitamin E, folate, melatonin, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants that work to improve brain function.

2. Carrot – Eye

It is clear that a sliced carrot resembles an eye, it even has patterns of radiating lines that look just like the pupil and iris! Beta-carotene (what gives carrots their vibrant orange colour) helps to maintain healthy eyesight, protects against macular degeneration, and the development of cataracts.

3. Celery-bone

Celery, Rhubarb, Bok-choy and more look just like bones structure. These foods specifically target bone strength. Celery contains silicon, which is part of what gives bones their strength. Here’s an astonishing fact: bones are 23% sodium, and celery is also 23% sodium.

4. Tomato- heart

A Tomato has four chambers and is red in color, so also the heart is red and has four chambers. Research has confirmed that tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and it is indeed pure heart and blood food.

5. Avocado – Uterus

Avocados are shaped like the uterus and cervix, and avocados have been shown to balance hormones and prevent cervical cancer! And guess what? Just as it takes exactly 9 months for a baby to fully develop in the womb, it takes an avocado exactly 9 months to grow from a blossom into a ripened fruit!

6. Sweet potato- Pancreas

A sweet potato has a striking resemblance to the pancreas, and has been shown to help the pancreas do its job by helping to stabilize blood sugar levels and can actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics. Sweet potatoes are also naturally high in Vitamin B6, which studies have shown inhibits the growth of pancreatic cancer!

7. Ginger – Stomach

Ginger looks like the stomach and aids in digestion! Ginger has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for stomach health. Gingerol, the ingredient that gives ginger it’s strong scent and taste, is listed in the USDA database of phytochemicals as having the ability to prevent nausea and vomiting.

8. Grapes – Lungs

Grapes, especially heirloom concord grapes, resemble the alveoli of the lungs. The alveoli of the lungs allow oxygen to pass from the lungs to the bloodstream. A diet high in fresh grapes has shown to reduce the risk of lung cancer! Grape seeds also contain a chemical called proanthocyanidin, which can reduce the severity of allergy-triggered asthma.

9. Kidney beans- Kidneys

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and are shaped exactly like the human kidneys (hence their name). Kidney beans provide a variety of minerals and vitamins, and so are generally beneficial for your health. If your kidneys are healthy, kidney beans can -- when consumed as part of a balanced diet -- contribute to your kidney health. If your kidneys are diseased, you might need to moderate your intake of kidney beans.

10. Grapefruit – Breast

Grapefruit, oranges, and other citrus fruits resemble female mammary glands and help the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts! According to Dr. Moulavi, “Grapefruit contains substances called limonoids, which have been shown to inhibit the development of cancer in lab animals and in human breast cells.”

So there you have it. Eat wisely, eat healthy and live healthy!

The Man who lives his life as a Goat.

While most people like you and me can be considered to be a little weird from certain point of view, there are some people who have taken it to another level.

Meet Thomas Thwaites, a former graphic designer who was so fed up with his life, that he went and lived like a goat in Swiss Alps.

Why he has chosen this life?

Thomas was tired of the problems a human being face every day, like a bad day at office, worrying about mortgages, growing old and household bills. He was not happy with a world controlled by humans where there are Syrian refugees and riches controlling the poor.

He wanted to explore what it would be like to live as a creature immune to the worries and frustrations—the "existential terror"—of everyday life, and to do so as authentically as possible with the technology that exists today.

In his own words:

“I was looking after a friend's dog, Noggin the Irish terrier, and I was having a 'what am I doing with my life' moment.

“I thought 'Noggin you are so lucky' and began wondering how I might see life from that perspective.”

“I tried to become a goat to escape the angst inherent in being a human”.

Why Goat?

he wanted to be an Elephant. However as he researched the animals he realized they have worries too and are thought to be one of the only mammals other than humans who regard death with sadness.

He choose Goat because they are calm and worry-free.

“But instead of the ferocity of a bear, or the perspective of a bird, the characteristic most useful in modern life is something else; being present in the moment perhaps.”

To live his life as a goat, he started designing prosthetic that will allow him to walk on 4 legs.

This was one of his early prototypes:

To help make his dream come true Thomas consulted a range of experts to advise on goat diet, psychology and physicality. He meticulously practiced how to move like a goat.

A year later, Thomas traveled to Switzerland to join a herd of goats.

Freed from the shackles of 21st century living , he had his new life – as a Swiss mountain goat where his only concern was where his next mouthful of grass was coming from.

Speaking about grasses, He also had to digest grasses that Goats eat. a feat which can not be achieved by the regular human digestive system.

He said:

“I knew if I wanted to live as a goat I had to eat like one and that involved grass.”

Animals have a digestive system which contains complex bacteria that helps them to digest grass. Thomas looked into creating his own artificial digestive system so that he could eat grass like a goat.

So he used to chew grass like a goat, but instead of swallowing, he used to spit it into a bag containing a sample of bacteria from inside a goat's stomach. the bag had an in-tube and a out-tube, from where the processed grass can be sucked out.

However, this method did not work and researchers who had advised him on bacteria, were concerned that he would develop a long term parasitic gut infection if he continues this diet.

So, he used a pressure cooker to break down the grass at the end of the day to eat it.

“It tasted like a really healthy stew but it was hard going.

“You'd have to eat a lot of grass to keep your energy up and that's what makes goats so amazing.”

Thomas spent £4,000 to build his goat exoskeleton and artificial digestive system.

According to him, the Goats have finally accepted him as a part of their herd.

He has also written a book on his journey. It’s titled: GoatMan: How I Took a Holiday from Being Human which is available at amazon.
