So lets get in :

Political :

To start with, lets first argue why these two men are constantly fighting :

Sunni vs Shia ? No
For Obama and Putin ? Huh
For oil ? Who cares
Caliphate vs Secular Republic? Are you kidding me!!

They are fighting to maintain a grip over people, over the few hundred thousand men, women and children who inhabit the nations of Iraq and Syria. They are fighting to determine whose word will become the law, who determines the fate of common citizens.
They determine what is right and what is wrong for Muslims in Iraq and Syria.
Addiction to power is like addiction to alcohol…. it’s not easy to let go.

Same is the case with Muslim Personal Law Board.

It is the Muslim Personal Law Board that exhibits a tremendous influence over 180 million+ Indian Muslims. The Mullahs and maulanas under the gab of this Law Board have become the self appointed interpreters of Quran. They decide what is right and what is wrong for millions of Muslim women. Some politicians can do anything for their support. Their recent statements also show that they believe that they are parallel to the Parliament and above the Supreme Court of this nation.The representative Parliamentary democracy is for other people, for Indian muslims, it is their theocratic chauvinist Shoora that has been bestowed the responsibility to make personal laws.
They say any random garbage and it automatically becomes a word of law. Some genius also pointed out in another answer “Islam is governed by Sharia, if you are not comfortable, leave Islam !!” 
In short, they exercise the same power as Al-Baghdadi sans the worries of running away from US drones or Russian fighter jets !!

Now, if Al-Baghdadi and Assad can bombard and destroy cities after cities to maintain their grip over few hundred thousand Muslims, do you think that these 41 ulamas are going to give up their power over 180 million Muslims so easily ?
Hence, they are resenting. If Uniform Civil Code is imposed, the members of the Muslim Personal Law Board become insignificant. No one would give a damn what they think or what they do. The power is automatically transferred to courts and Parliament. Hence, all this propaganda in the name of religion is just a facade to retain significance and power.

Their power is lessening, the bells for their ends have been rung.

2. Social

Most of us wont recognize this man in one go. He is Mohammad Bin Laden.
Does the surname ring some bells? Yup, he is the father of (in)famous Osama Bin Laden !!
He had 22 wives. You cant really blame Osama’s actions on his upbringing because he had 55 other kids as well. He was on his way to marry the 23rd when his plane crashed. He died at the tender age of 59 :(

You are married.
You get attracted to another woman.
You marry her, no issues !!
Repeat this process 3 more times.
But now Houston…. I mean Mecca, we have a problem !!
I am in love with a 5th woman, what should I do ?
Simple, chose one of your 4 wives in 4C1 ways. Utter “talaq talaq talaq”, throw a meagre mehramount on her face and continue with your lust.
If the man is well-doing and the girl is from a poor family, the deal is usually done with parents.

Is this some kind of joke? Is marriage a sacred institution or a legal and religious cover up for prostitution? Is it a bond between two souls or a market where you can buy and try different types of vaginas ?
No worries what happens to the young ones? The social and the psychological impact ?
Do the supporters of such draconian laws never realize that what if this happens with their mother or beloved sisters ?
Minor girls are abducted from our nation, aremarried to rich Sheikhs in Middle East. When they are fed up, they dump them using Sharia. Is it something to be proud of ?

Not to mention, many non-Muslims have misused this personal law for their own benefits, the most famous ones being superstar Dharmendra and Harayana politician Chander Mohan.

The right to polygamy and triple talaq is the biggest infringement on the Fundamental right of Equality.
i) Men can legally marry 4 times and women cannot. 
ii) Men can also divorce with triple pronouncements of the word 'Talaq' and women cannot. 
iii) There is no real provision for maintenance in law and it boils down to women getting temporary maintenance under CPC till they get actually divorced. After that, they are left at the mercy of the Wakf board. The Mehr amount decided during marriage is usually meager when compared to alimony and is mostly inadequate to provide for the women and kids, especially if she is illiterate.
iv) Women do not take an equal right in the property of their father.
v) Moreover, it also discriminates a Muslim man from a non-Muslim man.
vi) Not to forget a Muslim woman from a non-Muslim one.

Also, it incentivizes women NOT to practice permanent birth control methods for if our husband leaves her after it, she is doomed. (as it recently happened with a woman in Jaipur). Also, if each person starts fathering 8–10 kids (2/woman), its not hard to imagine the population explosion and the rampant economic crisis that is to follow.

The arguments provided by the Perosnal Law Board are even more hilarious.

Argument : If triple talaq is denied, the person may kill his wife to get rid of her.
Counter : Oh, so man’s will is supreme. Is IPC 302 not applicable? Is man above the law and system. Also if I dont like Fawad Khan, and he refuses to go back to Pakistan, I have legitimate right to murder him in cold blood. I also have the right to nuke Pakistan because I dont like them, right ?

Argument : In the contract of marriage, both partners are not equal. Male is stronger and female weaker sex.
Counter : FEMINISTS…. Tonight we dine in hell. THIS IS SPARTAAAAA !!

Argument : Polygamy is a “social need” and a “blessing” for women because “an unlawful mistress is more harmful for social fabric than a lawful second wife”
Counter : From point of view of first wife and her kin, both are the same thing. It doesnt matter whether you do it in a brothel or right in front of her eyes in her very own bedroom. The social fabric has been destroyed for her, the emotional aspect of marriage is more or less over.

Argument : Personal laws of a community cannot be rewritten in the name of social reform.
Counter : Says who? Google Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Eshwar Chandra Vidyasagar. They rewrote and dumped off many outdated traditions of Hinduism. Let’s be clear sir,Constitution is above any religious book or some archaic law. You abide by it or you go to jail.

Hence, the resentment by few individuals is due to the fact that Uniform Civil Code will snatch their unconstitutional privileges, will shake the status quo and will make them equal to others. Hence, they are also in for a power struggle.

3. Religious :

Is Islam standing on the pillars of polygamy and triple talaq ? If these are not practiced, does it make you less of a Muslim ?
Indonesia, the nation with the highest Muslim population doesnt practice triple talaq. Are they less Muslims ?
A nation which goes by the name of Islamic Republic of Pakistan forbids it too. You are saying that Pakistanis are less Muslims !!!
Iran…. Ayatullah, non Muslims ?
Then why creating the brouhaha calling Uniform Civil Code as an infringement on religion ?
Lord Krishna had not 1, not 2, not 3 but 16108 wives !! The constitution forbade us from keeping more than 1 wife. Is it an insult to Lord Krishna ? Is it an infringement of Hinduism.

If your chauvinism and extremism is not allowing you to see the logic, go to the nearest store, buy the latest version of Time Machine and change the counter from 0709 to 2016. You’re done !!

As Canadian intellectual Tarek Fateh correctly puts it “There are 2 types of Muslims. Allah’s Muslims and Mullah’s Muslims.”
